A while ago, I watched an interesting documentary where the reporter talked about how cannabidiol sent its possessors to jail in the ’60s. Forward to another 60 years and cannabis is all the rave. Proponents have even dubbed CBD oil a ‘miracle elixir.’
And a whopping 64 million Americans (25% of the entire populace) are estimated to have tried CBD in the past 24 months according to Consumer Reports. And the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), in 2018, took CBD out of its list of prohibited substances.
So what changed?
How did cannabis win the hearts of so many? What are the health benefits of CBD supplements? What are the side effects of CBD oil? Is cannabis legal, and will it return a positive result on a drug test?

What is CBD Oil?
Cannabidiol, also known as CBD, is the second most prominent chemical compound (cannabinoids) found in the cannabis plant after THC (delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol).
To better understand the difference between CBD and THC, let’s discuss more about cannabis.
Cannabis is a flowering plant belonging to the family Cannabaceae. There are three species of cannabis of which Cannabis sativa is the most important.
Furthermore, cannabis is broadly classified into two varieties — hemp and marijuana (not to be confused with species or strains). And this is where the confusion sets in.
Another factor lending voice to the confusion surrounding these two is that both hemp and marijuana have similar physical features.
